Description
Hearts is a classic trick-taking card game that has entertained players for generations. The objective is simple: avoid taking tricks that contain hearts or the queen of spades, as each of these cards adds penalty points to your score. The game ends when a player reaches 100 points, and the player with the lowest score wins. What makes Hearts unique is the strategic depth hidden in its straightforward rules. Players must decide which cards to pass to opponents, which suits to lead, and when to try for a bold move called shooting the moon. Shooting the moon means taking all penalty points in a hand, which gives 26 points to every other player instead. This digital version brings the same engaging experience to your screen with a clean, intuitive interface. Whether you are a seasoned card player or new to the game, Hearts Online offers a welcoming environment to learn and improve. The game emphasizes careful planning, observation, and a bit of psychology as you try to outsmart your rivals. Each round presents new challenges and opportunities, ensuring that no two games are alike.
To play Hearts, each round begins with a passing phase. Players select three cards from their hand to pass to an opponent. The direction of passing rotates each round: left, right, across, and then no pass. After passing, the player holding the two of clubs leads the first trick by playing that card. Play proceeds clockwise. Each player must follow the suit led if they have a card of that suit. If not, they may play any card, including hearts or the queen of spades. The player who plays the highest card of the led suit wins the trick and leads the next one. Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been played in a previous trick, unless a player has only hearts left. The game continues until all cards are played. Points are tallied: each heart is worth 1 point, and the queen of spades is worth 13 points. If a player takes all 13 hearts and the queen, that player has shot the moon and receives 0 points while all others get 26 points. The game ends when any player reaches or exceeds 100 points, and the player with the lowest total score wins.
